 UAE President Dies: Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Dies At 73, Country Begins 40 – Days of Mourning: Emirati state news agency WAM reported that United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan died due to a long term disease at 73 years old on Friday. The government has announced the 40 days of mourning with flags at half-mast from Friday and has announced three days of holiday for the private and government sector in the entire nation.

Second President of the UAE:-

Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan was the second President of the UAE and the 16th Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.  His father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan died on 2 November 2004 and  SheikhKhalifa took the charge as a President of the UAE  on 3 November 2004 to succeed his father.

He has not been spotted in the public since 2014 as he had surgery following the stroke but he was continuing paying his role as a President of the UAE.  However, the cause of his death has not been revealed officially.

Sheikh Khalifa was born on 7 September 1948 and died on 13 November 2022. He was also well known for his vision and action for the betterment of the nation. He was also the supreme commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces and served from 2004 to2022. He has also headed the Supreme Petroleum Council as the chairman in the  1980s.  When his father was facing health issues, he also had already de facto carried out some aspects of the presidency since the late 1990s as a crown prince.

He has no formal education and a high skill diploma then also gave new recognition to UAE as Dubai emerged as a tourism and trade hub and Abu Dhabi pumped oil as a key OPEC player.

Sheikh Khalifa was a boon for the people as he supported Dubai when it was hit by a financial crisis and offered a multi-billion-dollar lifeline to the debt-laden emirate and gave new birth to  Dubai and its people.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Qatari Emir Sheik have expressed their grief for his demise as he was a true friend of the United State.

His half brother Mohammed bin Zayed tweeted on Friday, “ We have lost Virtuous son and leader of the ‘stage of empowerment and we are praying for his blessed journey. His achievements, pearls of wisdom and dignity will be a part of our nation always.
