Teen dead after friends wearing body armortake turns shooting each other

Following the teen’s death, investigators determined that Broad and 17-year-old Joshua Vining were playing and taking turns shooting at one another “while wearing a vest which contained a sort of body armor,” as per a news release from the Belleview local department .
According detectives “discovered evidence to prove that Vining shot and killed Broad,” furthermore police added: “Vining shot at Broad while he was wearing the vest and he was struck.”
Four days later, Vining was arrested on Thursday and he has been charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child with a firearm. He was posted a $30,000 bond on April 8, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office website.
Police couldn’t say what kind of gun was being used or who owned it. The medical examiner said the cause of Broad’s death was a single gunshot wound into the chest and the manner of death was listed as homicide, consistent with an evidence affidavit, CNN reported.
A 16-year-old boy witnessed the shooting initially, later he lied to police about what had happened, according to authorities. Police said the boy has been charged with providing false information to law enforcement.
Both teens have been charged as adults.
