Philippine Basketball Association: Mikey Williams of TNT becomes PBA Rookie of the Year: The 46th season of PBA is underway and the prolific guard of TNT, Mikey Williams becomes the Rookie of the Year as per official sources. He is the fourth in the Philippine Basketball Association Season 46th Draft and this is a dream come true for this player. He was instrumental in leading the Tropang GIGA to victory last year at the All Filipino series. Mikey Williams also managed to become the Most Valuable Player for TNT Tropang GIGA after they won against Magnolia. Other players in the contest were Jamie Malonzo, Santi Santillan from Rain or Shine, Jerrick Ahanmisi from Magnolia, and Andrei Caracut from Rain or Shine. The Most Improved Player in the league was Juami Tiongson of TerraFirma. Interestingly, Mikey was not available at the Leo Awards on Sunday.

Kevin Alas of NLEX was announced as the winner of the Samboy Lim Sportsmanship Award. Mikey has given excellent performance in the past few tournaments and definitely deserves the award. Many analysts praised the way he steered his team to victory in the most crucial moments of the game. He is also a good team player and gels well with other players to deliver the best performance against opponent teams.
Mikey was not available in person to receive the award but sources say that he was very happy with the award. It is not often that one gets to receive the Rookie of the year award. The 30-year-old player now has more responsibility on his shoulders to steer his team to victory in the upcoming tournament.
Other contenders for becoming the most valuable player in the league also delivered excellent performance and the interesting thing about the list is that Rain or Shine had two players in this list. It is not often that we find two players from the same team competing for the most valuable player award in the tournament.
Andrei Caracut and Santi Santillan were the two key players from Rain or Shine who were competing with Mikey Williams to become the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. However, Mikey beat them all to become the Rookie of the year and this will boost his confidence for the upcoming series.
