Legendry cricket player Sachin Tendulkar also wrote a congratulation note for him by saying him a “fighter” and a “challenger”. Apart from Sachin Tendulkar, his Mumbai Indians teammate JaspritBumrah also wrote a congratulation note for him. According to his tweet,”A power hitting maestro, a solid team man and a very good friend.” Further he added,” Congratulations on your international career, you’re a legend! All the very best for everything.”
Former India cricketer Vinay Kumar also reserved a special praise for his newly retired friend -Polly. While, Chris Gayle, his WI teammate, was pleasantly surprised by Pollard’s decision. According to his friend Chris Gayle, “I can’t believe you retired before me.”
Cricket West Indies (CWI) also released an official statement in this regard and congratulated Pollard for his rich contribution. According to their tweet,” We respect his decision to retire from CWI and are grateful for the high quality of leadership and commitment he invested. We wish him success in his career”. This statement was sent on behalf of CWI President Ricky Skerritt.”
About Kieron Pollard- his carrier:
Pollard holds the record of smashing six consecutive maximums in a T20I match against Sri Lanka, a feat which he achieved last year in 2021. In fact, he was also part of the WI team, which won the ICC T20 Men’s World Cup in 2012 by defeating Sri Lanka in the finals.
He took over as WI captain in ODIs and T20Is after the 2019 World Cup and gave some impressive results.He made his international debut for WI during the 2007 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.And after that he went to feature in 123 ODIs. There, he scored 2,706 runs and claimed 55 wickets in this format only.
His T20I debut came in the following year against the most powerful team Australia. In a total number of 101 T20I appearances, he accumulated 1,569 runs, including 99 sixes. Pollard also has 42 wickets under his name in the shortest format of the cricket game.
